POR-15® Fuel Tank Sealer was formulated and developed in our own laboratories due to the demand for a high-tech sealer impervious to all fuels, including the new Stage II fuels which have a high alcohol content. POR-15® Fuel Tank Sealer has superior strength and fuel resistance, and does not contain Methyl Ethyl Ketone, a highly flammable and deadly carcinogen (cancer-causing). POR-15® Fuel Tank Sealer is non-flammable and is environmentally safe. Formerly U.S. STANDARD FUEL TANK SEALER TYPICAL PROPERTIES COLORS: Aluminum Weight per gallon: 8.75 – 8.95 lb Flash Point: 103˚F Volatile Organic Content (VOC): less than 340 g/L Viscosity: 170-200 cP Solids: 68-70% Theoretical coverage: 250-450 sq. ft. per gal., depending on surface. Temperature Resistance: 315˚F Continuous, 450˚F for periods up to 72 hours Cure Time: Let POR-15® Fuel Tank Sealer cure for at least 96 hours (4 days) before returning to service. Application Information Drain all fuel from tank, remove tank from vehicle, and clean out tank. All fuel tanks are dirty and have to be cleaned out before sealing. DO NOT MIX THIS SEALER WITH ANY FUELS. If you try to seal a tank without cleaning it first, the new coating will fail, because Tank Sealer won’t stick to gum and varnish. Mix 1 part of POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser with 1 part of hot water and pour into tank. Gloves and eye protection should be worn at all times. Roll the tank around, then place in different position every 2 hours so the solution can cover all inside surfaces. Repeat this step until solution comes out clean then rinse tank thoroughly with water 2 or 3 times to remove all the cleaner then permit to dry. Next pour in full container of POR-15® Metal Prep and roll the tank around, then place the tank in different positions every half hour until the entire inside of the tank has been treated with POR-15® Metal Prep. Then rinse the tank thoroughly with hot water several times, then drain and dry completely with a hair dryer or heat gun. Tank must be bone dry before you can use Fuel Tank Sealer. Remove valves, petcocks, floats, feed lines, filters, and other mechanisms. Sealer will clog narrow feed lines if they are not sealed off. If lines get clogged, they can be cleared with a wire or coat hanger before sealer is dry. Plug all open holes with duct tape, cork, or rubber stopper except main filler hole. Tank must be completely dry inside. Ideal working temperature is 72°F. STIR WELL BEFORE USING. Pour entire contents of Tank Sealer into tank, cover fill hole, then slowly rotate tank back and forth, side to side, and upside down to cover all surface and seams. Then drain for at least 30 minutes to ensure that Tank Sealer has not puddled in tank. Allow 96 hours for drying. Air-dry tank in well ventilated area, drying time can be improved by using a low pressure blower or hair dryer (low or no heat) and circulating it through one hole in tank and out another. DO NOT REUSE SEALER. Let remnant drained sealer dry out in open can, then discard in accordance with local regulations. Safety Information WARNING! COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID AND VAPOR! VAPOR HARMFUL. Contains Stoddard Solvent, crystalline silica, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, and aluminum flake: MAY AFFECT THE BRAIN OR NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING DIZZINESS, HEADACHE, OR NAUSEA. MAY CAUSE EYE, SKIN, NOSE, AND THROAT IRRITATION. Aluminum flake will react with water slowly generating hydrogen gas and heat. Care should be taken when opening a previously used container to allow possible built up pressure to escape (hold down lid with one hand while opening container away from yourself with the other hand). NOTICE: Repeated and prolonged exposure to solvents may lead to permanent brain damage. Eye watering, headaches, nausea, dizziness and loss of coordination are signs that solvent levels are too high. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. To avoid breathing vapors or spray mist, open window and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. Cancer Hazard: contains crystalline silica which can cause cancer when in respirable form (spray mist or sanding dust). Keep away from heat and flame. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors, spray mist or spraying dust. Do not get in eyes or on skin.WEAR A PROPERLY FITTED VAPOR/PARTICULATE RESPIRATOR APPROVED BY NIOSH FOR USE WITH PAINTS, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing during application (or sanding) and until all vapors and spray mist are exhausted. In confined places or in situations where continuous spray operations are typical, or if proper respirator fit is not possible, wear a positive-pressure, supplied air respirator approved by NIOSH. In all cases, follow respirator manufacturer’s directions. Do not permit anyone without protection in the painting area. Close container after each use. FIRST AID: If affected by inhalation of vapors or spray mist, remove to fresh air. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and call a physician; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of ingestion, DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical help immediately. IN CASE OF: FIRE – Use foam, CO2, dry chemical, or water fog. SPILL – Absorb with inert material and dispose of in accordance with applicable regulations. DISPOSAL: Empty container with product residue may still be flammable; follow all hazard statements until it has been disposed of. Contains organic solvents which may cause adverse effects on the environment if disposed of improperly. Consult your sanitation department for more information on disposal of empty containers. Disposal of wastes containing either organic solvents or free-liquids in landfills is prohibited. Local requirements vary; contact your state-designated environmental agency for information concerning re-use, recycling, or disposal of solvent-borne paint. FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY. NOT FOR RESIDENTIAL USE. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. CAUTION: Leftover sealer may not be used again. Pour it back into can, then add a little water, and let it sit until the next day when the sealer is hardened in the can and can then be thrown out with the garbage.
